The Inspiration behind Make Your Peace

I am often in a state of amazement when I witness seemingly unrelated pieces of my life assembling themselves together, as if by magic, to create something remarkable.
Such was my experience with Make Your Peace.

But first, let me tell you a story.

the Final Gift

I got the call no one wants, “You better come home.”

My Dad had been hospitalized and diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Stage, get your affairs in order.

We silently sat together in the courtyard outside the hospital.
The fresh air helped hold the weight of a million unspoken feelings.

He broke the silence with a one word question “Regrets?”
I froze.
I understood in that moment what he was doing and was shocked by my response.

YES!!! I heard myself say.
I rattled off a list of Dad regrets that I’d I had been carrying like a weight for years.
Each one was acknowledged and released by him.

When I was done, “it” was done and I felt at peace inside.

I was free at last from the burden of my regrets.

It was to be a parting gift from my Dad.
RIP♥Daddy

It was a gift that kept on giving.

In time, I came to realize that peace and freedom from things we carry, is a decision that is ours alone to make.

It begins with telling the story.
